Paper Birch is a fast growing, medium size tree, well known for it’s white, peeling bark. The leaves turn yellow in the fall. The trees can tolerate a wide variety of soil types but does best on rich, well drained sites. Paper birch is shade intolerant.

Paper birch is commonly planted for landscaping and wildlife habitat. Seeds, buds, and catkins are eaten by birds and small mammals.
