Aronia melanocarpa

Black chokeberry is a moderate sized shrub. It is very adaptable and hardy, and can handle a variety of soil and light conditions, including wet sites. It suckers readily from the roots. Small white flowers turn into edible dark purple/black berries. Leaves turn red, orange, and purple in the fall.

Black chokeberry is often planted for landscaping, erosion control, restoration, wildlife, and pollinator habitat.
