Forest Management

The story of Therese Zemlin, a Brimson landowner who embraced the role of being a steward for her land after the Greenwood Fire sparked her interest in forestry. The article discusses some of the history of her property and the work that she has done with the North St. Louis SWCD and the NRCS to help care for her property and reduce the wildfire risk brought on by dead balsam fir trees on her land that were killed by the ongoing spruce budworm outbreak. This is a MN Locally Led article developed jointly by the MN Association of Soil & Water Conservation Districts and USDA’s Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS).
